Ein einzelner Wachhund patrouilliert selbstständig durch das entkernte ehemalige Museum der bildenden Künste Leipzig. Auf den Rücken des Hundes ist eine Überwachungskamera geschnallt. Der Kontrollgang ist dem Hund eingetrichtert und wird ohne Abweichung unendlich wiederholt. Die Räume sind völlig verlassen, entleert, selbst Türen existieren nicht mehr. Der Hund arbeitet sich von einem ‚Level’ ins nächste vor. Der daraus entstandene Film wurde aus einem leeren Geschäft heraus auf das Schaufenster projiziert – und zwar an dem Platz, an dem heute das neue Museum steht. Derselbe Vorgang wurde im Rohbau des neuen Museums wiederholt und zu einem Film verarbeitet.
A lone watchdog patrols the empty halls of the former Museum of Fine Arts in Leipzig. A monitoring camera is mounted on his back. Drilled to perform his inspection round, the dog incessantly repeats his course unassisted and without deviation. The rooms are completely abandoned, voided; even the doors are missing. The dog dutifully works his way from one level to the next. The film based on this material was projected from the interior of an empty store onto its shop window – at precisely the place where the new museum is standing today. The entire procedure was also repeated in the new museum’s shell construction and then used for another film.
